30 tons duplicate cumin seeds seized from Godown in Unjha

Unjha: The Food and Drug Regulatory Authority-Gandhinagar has seized 30 tons of specious cumin seeds during a raid conducted based on a tip-off in Unjha, Gujarat’s hub for trading the agri-commodity.
Pratikbhai Dilipbhai Patel was found to be preparing cumin seeds artificially with the help of certain raw materials at a godown on Gangapura-Rampura road in Unjha. Raw materials as well as stock of finished materials was found at the godown.
Stock of one of the raw materials, which was found to be a perishable commodity, has also been destroyed.
Genuine cumin seeds were adulterated with the artificially prepared stock at the godown to be sold on the open market.
Authentic cumin seeds are currently being sold at a price of Rs 300- Rs 400 per kg at retail shops. DeshGujarat
