Countdown begins for launch of govt-funded medical college in Morbi

Morbi: After all the controversies, the government is going all out to establish a medical college in Morbi immediately and ensure that it becomes functional. The countdown to start a medical college in the precincts of the erstwhile Zilla Panchayat Office at Gibson Middle School has begun and activities to set up an anatomy museum, skill lab, lecture theater, faculty chamber and other such modern facilities are going on in full swing.

The medical college will come up at a cost of Rs 4.50 crore and there are clear indications that it will become functional in the campus of the Gibson Middle School from this academic year.

All changes are being made in the school and new medical facilities are being created to convert it into a medical college. The renovation is being undertaken on a war footing. The building will have three-storeys and a dome for a library will come up on the third floor at a cost of Rs 1 crore.

A steel angle will support the library on the third floor. Because the school building is very old, the process to strengthen it is underway.

Apart from the library, this medical college will have 30 faculty chambers, 3 lab demonstration rooms, one skill lab, an anatomy museum and lecture theater. DeshGujarat
