Gujarat govt announces financial aid to farmers cultivating dragon fruit

Gandhinagar: The farmers, cultivating Kamlam fruit (dragon fruit), will get financial aid of a total Rs 1000 lakh and Rs 650 lakh under comprehensive horticulture development.

State agriculture minister Raghavji Patel declared that the state government has started a special program of financial aid of Rs 1000 lakh to encourage the farmers cultivating Kamlam fruits in the state. The maximum aid of Rs 3,00,000 per hectare will be provided to the farmers of general category and Rs 4,50,000 per hectare to the farmers of SC and ST categories.

Moreover, the program of Rs 650 lakh will be started for an aid of maximum Rs 50 lakh to the individual farmers, FPO, FPC and registered trusts for various factors such as cultivation of perennial plants, irrigation tools, horticultural mechanization, horticultural infrastructure facility, vermicompost unit, plastic covering and so on.
