Unique Robo Rathyatra of Lord Jagannath in Vadodara

Vadodara: Like every year MSU student and his friends organised Lord Jagnnathji Robo Rath Yatra in Vadodara. It is a nice attractive concept where Lord Jagannath sister Subhadra and brother Balbhadra moves on a vehicle controlled with a remote. This year its the 9th robo rathyatra taken out by this group of friends.

Jay Makwana and his other friends by combining science and culture took out this unique rathyatra since 2014. In which a 5 foot high wooden chariot similar to the replica of ‘Nandighosh’ chariot taken in the service of Shri Jagannathji in the Orissa Rathyatra has been prepared.

The robot chariot has been prepared by attaching four white horses and 6 wheels with a robot. The chariot is operated not by rope but by connecting to the Bluetooth of the devotees’ mobile phones. The Sudarshan Chakra has been installed on the top of the chariot and the chariot has been decorated with palm tree symbols and various flowers.

All the youths performed rituals before the rathyatra and later took out the procession with great fervor and enthusiasm. Niraj Mehta and Ravindra Solanki, the makers of the robot, said that this smart robot has a 12-volt battery and 6 wheels with a motor of 100 rpm. Due to which this chariot runs at a speed of 10 km per hour.

The route of Robo Rathyatra has been changed for the last two years and this year too the procession was taken out from LG society at Nizampura to New Era school where people of all religions join lovingly. This year, a special “Sonabhesh” made from Jagannath Puri, Orissa has been worn by the Lord. The head of the family, 89 year-old Kashi Ba, performed the pahind ceremony this year. Along with it Mahaprasad was also distributed among the devotees. DeshGujarat
