Surat Crime Branch teams to receive prize money as appreciation for their daredevilry

Surat: Home minister Harsh Sanghvi on Sunday gathered details about ‘Operation Ghost’ from the Surat Crime Branch the latter had conducted in remote areas of Bihar to arrest dreaded gangster Pravin Raut wanted for serious offences such as kidnappings, murders and extortion and also about the intriguing operation in which the Crime Branch sleuths intercepted a car without fearing for their own lives near Palsana in Surat District and rounded up the Chikligar gang. An overawed Sanghvi appreciated the Crime Branch for their daredevilry at the end of the narration.

The Surat police had arrested Pravin Raut from the interior areas of Nalanda district in Bihar. Reaching Pravin Raut, who extorted money by way of conference calls sitting in Bihar, was a big challenge for the Surat cops.

Similarly, the Chikligar gang was also arrested from Palsana taluka of Surat district in a manner that could be used as a plot for a Bollywood thriller.

Sanghvi was narrated the details during a meeting he held with Surat police commissioner, Ajay Tomar, other top police officials of Surat and the Crime Branch team at the Circuit House at Athwa Lines.

Sanghvi also announced an award of Rs 2 lakh for the team of the Crime Branch that nabbed Pravin Raut from Bihar and an award of Rs 1 lakh for the team that busted the Chikligar gang. DeshGujarat
