Coast Guard rescue 22 from a distressed merchant vessel off Porbandar coast

Porbandar: The Indian Coast Guard has rescued all 22 crew members from a distressed merchant vessel MT Global King I.
ICG vessels and ALH Dhruv were launched from Porbandar in Gujarat to carry out the rescue operations 93 nautical miles into the sea.
As per the officials, the Maritime search and rescue centre of the Coast Guard received a flooding distress alert from MT Global king, about 185 km away from Porbandar, where 22 crew abandoned the ship and were in sea waters. The ship was coming from UAE and going towards Mangalore.
In addition to Indian coast guard assets, one merchant ship was also diverted to rescue these 20 people from India and one each from Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
