Gujarat completes one fifth of average monsoon rain

Gandhinagar: Gujarat has completed about one-fifth of the total average rain. As of Thursday morning, the state has received a 20.16 % rain of average monsoon with a total rainfall of 171.35 mm against the average of 850 mm, as per the zone-wise report on rainfall dated 7th July 2022.

Devbhumi Dwarka in Saurashtra region has received the highest rainfall against the average rain of the monsoon season, which stands at 37.53 %, followed by 36.94 % in Porbandar and 35.64% in Gir Somnath.

In Dwarka, the Dwarka Dheesh temple, Bhadkeshwar Mahadev, and Gomti ghat are closed to pilgrims until the 10th of July due to continuous heavy rain. Dwarka and the surrounding villages have been issued alerts as a result of heavy rains prediction from IMD.

Kodinar Taluka of Gir Somnath District is facing a flood due to the heaviest rainfall in the last 24 hours, which stood at 189 mm.
Due to flooding of the Somat River, the Veraval – Kodinar Highway is also closed. Kodinar city also witnessed water logging in many societies, roads and low lying areas.

Khambhalia of Dwarka district has the highest average rainfall percentage of 56.54%, with total rainfall of 458 mm, followed by 53.57 % in Manavadar of Junagadh.
