Rajkot civic body to throw open ‘Ramvan’ at Aji dam for public soon

Rajkot: The Rajkot Municipal Corporation plans to throw open ‘Ramvan’ being developed at the Aji dam, for the public. The civic body plans to install idols related to the episodes of Lord Rama’s days in exile so that people can actually get to experience what all India’s iconic deity went through during his years as a forest dweller.

Thousands of trees are growing naturally in ‘Ramvan’ and the spot will soon transform into a forest. The river, the dam nearby and a water-fall all make the spot even more beautiful. With the aim of giving people a first hand experience of episodes from Lord Ram’s life spent in exile, a hut, Shabri episode, Kevat episode, Lord Ram’s meeting with Jatayu have been captured in the form of sculptures. Nearly 98% work on the ‘Ramvan’ is already completed.

Municipal Commissioner Amit Arora personally visited Ramvan and informed that work such as cleaning up and finishing touches were under way. The municipal commissioner issued instructions to trim the trees so that the sculptures are clearly visible, to hang up instruction boards to ensure cleanliness at the spot, prohibition to carry plastic bags inside the forest and strengthening of the security of the spot.

Arora also instructed related officials to bolster the security of the area with CCTV cameras and to ensure that music system plays bhajans and other such items such as ‘Ramdhun’ all the time. DeshGujarat
