Gandhinagar: Former late Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe the longest-reigning PM in Japan’s postwar history was shot dead while he was making a speech on a street in the city of Nara on Friday. PM Modi said in a tweet that, He is deeply distressed by the attack on his dear friend Abe Shinzo. and the whole country’s thoughts and prayers are with him, his family, and the people of Japan. In September 2017, Shinzo Abe visited Gujarat on a two-day visit to attend the fourth India-Japan annual summit meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

A grand road show was held from airport to Gandhi Ashram; thousands of locals had gathered to welcome PM Abe

Soon after the arrival in Ahmedabad, PM Abe and Japan’s first lady, Akie Abe, visited the Sabarmati Ashram along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday. The trio also paid floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi’s statue.

PM Abe his wife & PM Modi took a tour of Sidi Saiyyed Mosque, the famous 16th-century mosque where PM Modi described about its rich heritage and architecture.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe laid the foundation stone of the 508-km long Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail at the Sabarmati athletic ground in Ahmedabad.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe also attended his fourth India-Japan annual summit meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
