Works underway in full swing for Khavda solar wind park in Kutch: Officials

Bhuj: The works for setting up the biggest solar-wind park in the world, in the size of 30,000 megawatts are in progress near the international border at Khavda in Kutch, said the officials involved in this project and added that 50 percent installed power capacity is likely to be achieved by December 2024 and 100 percent installed power capacity shall be achieved by December 2026 in this park.

According to the managing director of Gujarat Power Corporation Limited (GPCL), the park developers have prepared the Detail Project Report (DPR) and the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) of the central government has granted in-principle approval to set up a 4750 megawatt park of NTPC REL at Khavda, 3325 megawatt park of GSECL, and 2375 megawatt park of GIPCL at Khavda under Mode-8 Scheme of establishing solar parks.

The officials further informed that the advanced approval from the Ministry of Defense of the central government has been received for the project. The works for the park are in progress in coordination with local military authority (LMA) as instructed by the Ministry of Defense. The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) has approved the power transmission system from the park. The EPC contractor for the 3000 megawatt power transmission system of Phase-1 has also been decided. They have started the work at the site.

The related developers have also received the approval of setting up RO Plant of converting salt water into fresh water for the water requirement according to officials. The developers have started works such as Contour Survey, Soil Investigation, Foundation Structure Design Testing. The roads and buildings department of the state government has completed the work of the 2-lane approach road connecting the renewable energy park. DeshGujarat
