GSRTC GPS control room alerts drivers for overtopping of flood waters on routes

Rajkot: The Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) has begun operating 24 hour control rooms, as it does every year in the monsoon, since last 15 days. The control room alerts the driver if the river/canals falling on the State Transport bus’s route is flowing above the danger zone.

Rajkot State Transport Department’s superintendent, J B Kalotra has informed that the GPS Command and Control Rooms have been activated at nine depots of the division including Rajkot Depot.

The number for the control room set up at office of the ST Workshop in Rajkot is 0281-2386340. This number can be dialed even by passengers apart from the drivers and conductors of the buses.

The 510 ST buses of Rajkot division are continuously monitored by the control rooms using GPS. Whenever water is noticed to be flowing at dangerous levels, the drivers are instructed to stop the bus in order to keep the passengers safe.

The buses are monitored for the entire 24 hours of the day in three shifts.
