Prepare Rs 3000-4000 crore worth development road-map for Vadodara: CM to Team Vadodara
July 22, 2022
Gandhinagar: A review meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel at his residence on Thursday which was attended by officials and functionaries in Vadodara. Team Vadodara raised issues such as Vishwamitri river, Drinking water and TP schemes during the meeting. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel told Team Vadodara in no uncertain terms that instead of coming with single-single projects, they should approach him with a road map for the development of Vadodara city, even if it involves an expenditure of Rs 3,000 – 4,000 crores.
A meeting was held at the CM’s residence with Team Vadodara earlier in February as well and the review meeting was held yesterday on the same issues that were discussed in the previous meeting.
The meeting started at 5 pm and Team Vadodara raised issues such as the Vishwamitri Project, Ring Road, drinking water project, construction of a convention centre, development of new STPs, TP schemes and taking back the plot of land in Lakkadpitha and widening the bed of the river Dhadhar.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said the riverfront project is Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream project, so continue working on that project and stop discharging sewage water into Vishwamitri with immediate effect. He, in fact, asked Team Vadodara to come up with a road map encompassing all matters such as how to keep the Vishwamitri river clean, how to divert sewage water, where to construct a convention centre. Instead of going to him with one or two projects, he asked them to come up with a holistic plan for the development of Vadodara city.
Don’t feel discouraged even if the plan involves an expenditure of Rs 3000-4000 crore, your agenda should be to come up with a comprehensive development plan, he told the officials and functionaries who were present.
“Recently inaugurated Sindhrot water project will ensure that there is adequate drinking water that can be supplied to the city, but worry about how you will create new sources to satisfy the need in the future,” the CM is reported to have told Team Vadodara.
The meeting was attended by revenue minister, Rajendra Trivedi, minister of state and Vadodara prabhari, Pradipbhai Parmar, Gujarat BJP general secretary, Bhargav Bhatt, MLA, Yogesh Patel, and Seemben Mohile and Vadodara mayor, Keyur Rokadia, city BJP chief, Dr Vijay Shah, Deputy Mayor, Nandaben Joshi, VMC standing committee chairman, Dr Hitendra Patel, city BJP general secretary, Sunil Solanki, municipal commissioner, Shalini Agrawal, and district collector, Atul Gor.
The meeting lasted for one hour and ended at 6 pm. However, no member from Team Vadodara was ready to speak anything about what had transpired at the meeting.
