3 arrested for tormenting lion, making viral video of act on social media

Amreli: The forest department has registered an offence and arrested three people for harassing a lion, which was crossing the bridge over a river at Rampara -2 village near Rajula of Amreli district, and making viral a video of the act on social media.

According to details made public by DCF, Jayant Patel, and RFO, Vegda, certain people were involved in harassing a lion which was passing over the river bridge at Ramapara -2 village. When the terrified lion started running, these people recorded a video of the lion running away and made it viral on social media forums.

The forest department has arrested Dula Sardul Vagh, Savaj Dadu Vagh, and Nakabhai Sardul Vagh, all of whom are residents of Ramapara -2 village, after filing an offence against them under the Wildlife Protection Act 1972. The trio have been held culpable for offences under Article 2(16), 2(33), 2(36), 9, 50, 51(A), 52 and 57.

The trio were produced before a Rajula court and sent to jail. Wildlife enthusiasts have expressed their satisfaction with the stringent action taken against the harassers of the lion by the forest department.
