Surat’s Cable Stayed Bridge to be daubed in colors using unique lighting system by Diwali

Surat: The Cable Staid Bridge, which is the glory of Surat, has become three years old. The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has decided to complete the lighting work and fit it with a monitoring system while allotting the maintenance contract for the bridge. The bridge monitoring system will cost Rs 16.89 crore while the unique lighting system will incur an expense of Rs 2.97 crores.

The SMC has started preparing for this task and a meeting for it was held between the municipal commissioner, Banchanidhi Pani and police commissioner, Ajay Tomar, to close the bridge for vehicular traffic to accomplish the fitting of both the lighting and the bridge monitoring systems.

The work will commence as soon as the permission to close the Cable Stayed Bridge for one month is received and it will have a functioning unique lighting system by the time Diwali arrives.

Unique Construction has sought closure of the bridge for 30 days to complete the maintenance tasks, but the SMC is likely to permit keeping it closed for 30 days.

The lighting system to be fitted on the Cable Stayed Bridge is known as Fasad Pixel Technology. The fitting of the lighting system will be done keeping in mind the specialities of the Cable Stayed Bridge so that it becomes a sight to behold. The lights will be of four colours – red, green, blue and white.

The lights of these four colours will be set in different combinations. As many as 16 lakh different combinations will give the bridge an altogether different identity. A wall of colours up to the cables and will give the impression of a colourful wall when seen from a distance.

This lighting technology will have the feature to customize effects in accordance with any particular festival or occasion.
