Construction of Integrated Cargo Terminal begins at SVPI Airport

Ahmedabad: Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) airport in Ahmedabad will get a new ‘semi-automated’ cargo terminal by next year.
The construction work for the same has begun after the groundbreaking ceremony that took place last week, according to the airport authorities, the first phase of work is expected to be completed by June 2023.
The first phase will cover a built-up area of 21,000 square metres out of the total built-up area of 33,000 square metres. This terminal will be capable of accommodating future cargo volume growth,
This year in April, the airport got a cargo terminal that enabled the import-export of 100 tons of goods per day and 3500 tons of goods per month. The new terminal will come up right opposite the office of IMD and will be capable of handling domestic cargo, international cargo, express courier, cold-chain pharma, and other perishable cargo.
