Passenger held with Rs. 6.45 crore diamonds wrapped in carbon paper in Chavana packet

Surat: Air Intelligence Unit (Custom) in Surat held Pathan Javedkhan Liyakat Ali with Rs. 6.45 crore diamonds during checking of passengers of Surat – Sharjah flight. Pathan was sent to judicial custody by local court.
Pathan (47) resident of Mohammadi Masjid Maholla in Surat bad went through boarding to catch Surat – Sharhaj flight of Air India. The passengers were stopped at departure hall for custom check. Himmat Singh, Inspector of Air Intelligence Unit found diamonds in plastic pouch of Chevda wrapped in carbon paper. When done valuation, the value of diamonds was found to be worth Rs. 6.45 crore. Pathan was also in possession of 5,000 USD.
