Rs. 4 crore folding bridge under construction at Narmada Canal for passing of heavy reactors

Banaskantha: A Rs. 4 crore folding bridge is under construction over Narmada Canal in Northern Gujarat district Banaskantha for transportation of two giant rectors made in Dahej, which are now en route to Rajasthan based refinery in Barmer.
The under-construction Iron made bridge will weigh about 300 tons. The need for this new bridge arose because the current bridge on the canal has a capacity of 400 tonnes, whereas the reactors that are being transported are 760 metric tons and 1148 metric tons in weight.
Water in Narmada canal has also been stopped for 12 days periood for construction of this bridge.
“Tentatively, the reactors will reach Rajasthan Refinery in Barmer in two to 2.5 months after crossing the canal.” said an official, adding that per day these extra ordinarily heavy reactors can travel a maximum of 7-8 km.
These reactors took seven months to travel 200 km from Dahej.
