Police Grade Pay rise: Gujarat govt declares Rs. 550 crore annual package

Gandhinagar: The Government of Gujarat today made announcement for approval of Rs. 550 crore annual package for the Police department. Minister of State for Home, Harsh Sanghavi made this announcement in Surat in a function held at the city police commissioner office.
According to the details available, police constable will get Rs. 52,740 rise in annual salary while head constable will get Rs. 58,740 rise. LRD jawan will get Rs. 96,150 rise annually in salary. ASI will get Rs. 64,740 rise annually in salary.
A committee of senior officials was formed on 28th October last year by Home department for deliberation on various demands of police men in the rank from Lolk Rakshak to Assistant Sub Inspectors(ASI).
After detailed study,the final report and recommendations were handed over to the Additional Chief Secretary (Home on 30th April this year. After going through the report, the Chief Minister, Finance Minister, MoS Home held a number of meetings to discuss the grade pay for police constabulary grade cops and other issues.
After this, the State government has decided to give Rs. 550 crore package for Lok Rakshak, ASI(Fix salary), police constables, head constables and ASIs worth Rs. 550 crore.
With this decision, the State government will pay over Rs. 550 crore annually to police families which will result into annually Rs. 64,000 to Rs. 96,000 pay rise annually to cops.
On this occasion, the women cops tied Rakhi to MoS Home, in response to which the MoS Home offered them sweets. DeshGujarat
