Gujarat CM to inaugurate Ram Van urban forest in Rajkot on August 17

Rajkot: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will dedicate “Ram Van”- Urban Forest developed by Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) and other projects tomorrow on 17th August 2022.

The entry at “Ram Van” will be free for the visitors till 28th August 2022 due to the month of Shravan and Satam Atham festivals. CM Bhupendra Patel will dedicate and lay foundation stones of various projects including Ram Van- Urban Forest, electric bus charging station, and 23 electric buses. The program will be held at 3.30 pm on 17th August at Ram Van, Kishan Gaushala road, near Aji Dam in Rajkot. The program will be held under the leadership of Rajkot mayor Dr Pradip Dav.

Ram Van- Urban Forest is built at a cost of Rs 13.77 crore across 47 acres of land. Various idols based on the life of Bhagvan Ram are installed at a cost of Rs 1.61 crore. The plantation of 80 thousand species is done in 25 blocks. The Miyawaki theme based plantation is done in 2 blocks. The visitors will be allowed free entry till 28th August at Ram Van.

The idols related to the episodes of Bhagvan Rama’s days in exile are installed there, so that people can actually get to experience what all India’s iconic deity went through during his years as a forest dweller. Thousands of trees have grown naturally in ‘Ramvan’. The river, the dam nearby and a water-fall all make the spot even more beautiful. With the aim of giving people a first hand experience of episodes from Bhagvan Ram’s life spent in exile, a hut, Shabri episode, Kevat episode, Bhagvan Ram’s meeting with Jatayu have been captured in the form of sculptures.
