Over 4 lakh cusecs discharge of water from Narmada dam

Bharuch: At 1 pm today, August 16, the outflow from Sardar Sarovar Narmada dam in the downstream area was over 3.95 lakh cusecs in river bed of Narmada in addition to over 18,000 cusecs discharge in the canal.

The dam was 87.20 percent full. The inflow from upstream areas of Madhya Pradesh was over 2.6 lakh cusecs. Against the full reservoir level of 138.68 meters, the present water level was 134.80 meters at 11 pm on August 16.

The dam, which is considered the lifeline of Gujarat, has designed capacity to store 9460 MCM water, against which it has 8249 MCM storage as of 1 pm on August 16. 23 gates of the dam are opened in 2.25 meter size for discharge of water.
