Shankersinh Vaghela announces Prajashakti Democratic Party

Gandhinagar: After his attempt to rejoin Congress party failed, former Gujarat Chief Minister Shankersinh Vaghela (82) has now announced his new political party Prajashakti Democratic Party.

Vaghela has announced five-point agenda ‘Panchamrut’ today, which includes Rs. 12 lakh health insurance coverage annually for those who earn upto Rs. 12 lakh and free education upto post-graduation for children of parents who earn upto Rs. 12 lakh annually.

The five point agenda also promises employment and unemployment allowance to unemployed youths. One of five promises is about abolishing water tax and free power upto 100 units apart from relief to farmers from debt and in electricity bills.

Vaghela has also promised a new scientific liquor policy as per the opinions of experts and removal of corrupt liquor prohibition policy.

Gujarat is going to witness the general elections of the State assembly in December this year. Vaghela is former Chief Minister and former union Textile minister. He had been President of Gujarat BJP and Gujarat Congress both in the past. Vaghela had floated Rashtriya Janata Party and Jan Vikalp party in the past. However none of these parties achieved success in elections. Vaghela has stated that his party would contest upcoming Gujarat polls.

Vaghela said he had told the Congress party that he would close his door for the Congress party on 15th August. He said he had earlier also closed his door for BJP also earlier. Vaghela said he therefore has announced his own political party after 15th August deadline lapsed.
