PM to inaugurate Solar powered milk processing plant of Sarhad Dairy in Kutch

Bhuj: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on 28th August, will dedicate the first milk processing plant fully run by solar energy in Gujarat, set up by Sarhad Dairy in Chandrani village of Anjar taluka in Kutch.

The milk processing plant is built across 26 acres of land at a cost of Rs 190 crore. The plant, managed by Kutch Jilla Sahakari Dudh Utpadak Sangh Ltd (Sarhad Dairy), has a capacity of processing 2 lakh liter milk daily. It is extendendable upto daily capacity of 4 to 6 lakh liter milk.

The milk products such as curd, buttermilk, panir, mawa, ghee and so on will be also produced at the plant. The milk and other milk products can be sold under the brand of Amul in Kutch and surrounding districts after the increase in the capacity of the plant. As per the chairman of Sarhad Dairy and vice chairman of Amul federation Valamji Humbal, 125 women unions and 10 thousand women cattle keepers became self-reliant in Kutch due to Sarhad dairy. The dairy aims to store 7 lakh liter milk this year, he said. DeshGujarat
