Gujarat best state in terms of peace and safety: DGP Bhatia on NCRB Data

Gandhinagar: Gujarat DGP Ashish Bhatia stated that Gujarat has achieved the status of the best state in terms of peace and safety of the citizens in the country.
He was speaking to media persons in reference to the recent report of the National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) 2021. The crime rate of theft, housebreaking, and looting is 21.7 % in Gujarat as per the report. It was 35.5 percent in 2017. In contrast, the crime rate of theft, housebreaking theft, and loot in the country is 55.8 %.
The rate of property-related crimes is less in Gujarat than in Delhi, Haryana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh. The rate of crime against women and children is 64.5 % in the country, while it is much lower 22.1 % in Gujarat.
The rate of crime against women in Delhi: 147, Rajasthan: 105, Haryana: 119, Madhya Pradesh: 74, Maharashtra: 66, Uttar Pradesh: 50, Punjab: 39, Bihar: 30. The rate of crime against children is 21.6 % in Gujarat and 33.6 % in the country.
