CBI nabs customs officer and his aide in Bribe case in Ahmedabad
September 08, 2022
Ahmedabad: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) yesterday detained a custom officer and his peon in Ahmedabad in the Bribe case of ₹25000.
CBI registered a complaint against the Superintendent of Customs, Paldi-Division, Mr. Sunil Menon, and a peon Pravin Vaghela. They were taking a bribe of ₹25000 to favor an exporter by giving him self-sealing permission for a manufacturing unit.
The complainant alleges that Menon had demanded ₹30000 for giving self-sealing permission. After negotiation, the officer settled for ₹25,000. The complainant contacted CBI as he was not willing to pay the bribe. The CBI laid a trap and caught the accused officer and peon red-handed while accepting the money in the customs office in the Navrangpura area.
The accused are detained and will be produced before the Special CBI court.
