Gujarat govt to reserve 6000 Sq. Kms. of land for Hydrogen fuel projects

Gandhinagar: Gujarat government has ordered to keep 6 thousand square kilometers of land reserved for the hydrogen fuel project in the state, it is learnt.

The Chief Minister’s Office has asked the district collectors of the Kutch and Banaskantha to make a list of disused government land and not to allot it to anyone. Over 6 industries have proposed the state government to establish the hydrogen fuel project. The two districts namely Kutch and Banaskantha are chosen in most of these proposals. The state government will declare a special policy for the project. The related departments are instructed to prepare a policy draft.

The state government will consider making a green hydrogen fuel policy, as the industries related to hydrogen fuel technology are set to make MoUs with the government, informed a senior official from the department of industries.

In this policy, incentives in the form of financial subsidy or viability gap funding will be included for the sunrise sector of hydrogen fuel production. Large companies such as Reliance, Adani group, L&T, NTPC, GAIL, and IOC are willing to establish hydrogen fuel projects.

L&T has recently declared to start a green hydrogen plant in Hazira with daily production of 45 kgs. Its first phase has started.
