ACB Gujarat nabs Sanitary Inspector of AMC in Bribe case

Ahmedabad: Anti-corruption Bureau (ACB) Gujarat has nabbed a sanitary inspector of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s cattle menace control department in a bribe case of Rs 4500.

The complainant and his relative run a business of animal husbandry. They tie their cattle in their yard but they have to often leave them in the surrounding area of their homes. The accused sanitary inspector Piyushkumar Jagdishchandra Vyas often gave threats to the complainant and his relative to catch their cattle. The accused demanded a bribe of Rs 5500 for 11 months for not catching cattle, considering Rs 1000 from the complainant and Rs 500 from his relative per month. The amount was reduced to Rs 3500 after arguments. So, the accused finally demanded Rs 4500, after adding Rs 1000 for the current month. The complainant contacted ACB as he was not willing to pay the bribe. The accused was found taking a bribe of Rs 4500 during a trap executed by ACB. The accused is detained.

ACB had found the same accused taking a bribe of Rs 10000 from another complainant for not giving any notice regarding factory licence and water disposal after providing RTI information in 2012. A crime was filed against him and a charge sheet against him was given to the court.
