NHAI appoints officials to repair Gujarat highways

Gandhinagar. The highway ministry and the National Highway Authority of India have deployed senior officials to fix the national highways in Gujarat. After the repeated complaints from several political leaders about the poor maintenance of the highways, NHAI has asked the officials to solve the issue within two months.

According to the media reports, 4-5 officers are put in charge of the maintenance work. NHAI chairperson Alka Upadhyaya and a few senior officials themselves inspected some of the National Highways stretches. Some of the officers are sent to Gujarat on deputation.

According to the sources, the Centre wants the work to be done before the announcement of poll dates so that it does not become a political issue.
