Gir Somnath: A fisherman was arrested yesterday in Kadar village of Gir Somnath in Gujarat with charas weighing 17 kilograms worth ₹26.45 lakh.

As per the police officials, Accused Shabbir Kharia (38) was arrested with 16 packets of narcotics that were allegedly hidden under fishing nets in his house. The accused also told the police during the investigation that he receive these packets of contraband after they washed ashore.

Superintendent of Police Manoharsinh Jadeja said, “The packets recovered from the accused were part of the same consignment that was recently recovered from the sea coasts in Gir Somnath, Porbandar and Junagadh districts.”

The police have charged the accused under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
