Gujarat Congress leader Chetan Rawal quits party
October 01, 2022
Ahmedabad: Senior Congress leader and former popular TV actor Chetan Rawal has resigned from the party. Rawal had been Ahmedabad city unit chief of Congress and State General Secretary in the past. Rawal had also contested Asarwa and Khadia assembly seat elections. Chetan Rawal is son of former State Congress bigwig and late former Home minister Prabodh Rawal.
When asked why he resigned from the party, Rawai said – I have been seeing that this Congress is not same as the one with which I used to work. Everything has changed. I don’t want to be a partner with something in which I am not comfortable. Congress is not able to decide whether an organization is more important or an elected wing is more important. When the elected wing becomes more important and when the elected wing starts ignoring the organization then that is the path of destruction. If elected leaders believe that they are bigger than the Congress party then they should contest as independents. The elected ones are important as they are representative of people but after all they win on Congress tickets.
When asked whether he would join BJP, Rawal in his reply told to wait for two or three days. He said the only ideology at present matters is how you can serve the people. Gujarat is going to witness the general election of the State assembly in December this year. DeshGujarat
