Coastal Jakhau may see Demolition Drive against illegal constructions

Bhuj: The Kutch district administration is all set to conduct demolition of illegal constructions at Jakhau port after the completion of the period of the notices issued to 200 to 300 persons today.
The notices were issued to 200 to 300 persons over illegal constructions. The notice period ended on Thursday. The local administration and police had visited the port and village on Wednesday. Prant officer Harshvardhan Solanki, DySP BB Bhagora, Jakhau marine PI DS Israni and other police staff joined it. The police and officials conducted foot patrolling. It is learnt that some fishermen returned to their natives. Several boats filled with fishes are on the jetty. Many fishermen are vacating the fish storage place.
Some fishermen alleged that the demolition is being conducted without understanding their issues. Valsad group fishermen and boat association chairman Narshibhai Tandel said that they arrive at Jakhau port for 50 years during fishing season and live there during the same. The administration gave notice of only 3 days for demolition, he said.
