October 18, 2022
Anand: The Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat, on Monday gave assent to bring some areas of Borsad and Petlad town in Anand District under the Disturbed Areas Act.
The state government, to prevent distress in communally sensitive areas, has imposed the Gujarat Prohibition of Transfer of Immovable Property and Provision for Protection of Tenants from Premises in Disturbed Areas Act (1991).
The decision came after some members of the Anjana community gave a memorandum to the Chief Officers of Petlad to implement the act in the Anjanawad area of town, which is witnessing some communal tension.
