Rs. 75 lakh cash recovered; Search is on for Congress party’s national secretary, in-charge of Gujarat unit

Surat: Search for the Secretary of the main opposition party the Indian National Congress is on after the recovery of Rs. 75 lakh cash from the Mahidharpura area-based Angadiya (courier) company as per the reports. Congress leader BM Sandeep had reportedly reached the Angadiya company office to collect Rs. 75 lakh cash. The reports suggest he started running away after seeing the Police present there. He could be seen running in CCTV video footage. The local police and the Income Tax department are probing into this.
As per the Twitter bio of BM Sandeep, he is from Chikmagalur. He is the Secretary of the Congress party and in charge of the Gujarat Congress. He served as AICC secretary of the Congress party’s Maharashtra unit and he is the former national convener of RGPS Karnataka.

The Static team of the Election Commission was conducting routine checking in Mahidharpura area, during which Rs. 74.80 lakh cash was recovered from an Innova car. While the driver and another youth were held, the other three persons escaped the place. The car had Maharashtra RTO passing. Congress party’s VVIP passes were recovered from the car. Police jawans counted the cash recovered from the car. The task took about one and a half years as the currency notes were Rs. 500 denomination.

The checking was held at around 11.30 pm when the car MH04AS9907 arrived there. The Police held a driver and two youths but one youth ran away and escaped the place. One of the youths held was identified as Uday Gurjar from Delhi while the other was identified as Muhammad Faiz from Surat. The one who ran away was identified as BM Sandeep from Karnataka.
BM Sandeep, National Secretary of Congress, had come to collect 75 lakhs from Angadiya but ran away after seeing the police. This happened in Mahidharpur area of Surat but visuals of his cowardice got captured on CCTV cameras.

The driver during the questioning told police that the destination of the journey was Shri Ram angadiya pedhi in Mahidharpura area from where money was to be collected and taken to the person whose name and address were to be conveyed in the phone.
Meanwhile, the Surat Congress leader Naishadh Desai has denied any connection of the Congress party with the cash recovered. As per the Congress website, B.M Sandeep Kumar is the Secretary of the Congress party, in charge of Gujarat, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu. Naishadh Desai however described this as a conspiracy and added that nothing is clear from the footage, neither the venue nor the face.
