December 03, 2022
Gandhinagar: Chief Election Officer (CEO) of the Election Commission of India (ECI) in Gujarat today said that in the first phase of polling in Gujarat, the voters in some areas were in confusion about the timings of polling. She clarified that the polling time is between 8 am to 5 pm. It’s worth noting that ECI had previously held voting from 7 am to 6 pm in some elections. In the present Gujarat polls, the ECI has changed it to 8 am to 5 pm. This created confusion in voters’ minds in the first phase of polling that took place on 1st December on 89 seats covering the regions of Saurashtra, Kutch, and South Gujarat.
CEO of ECI Gujarat P Bharti further stated that no voter is allowed to carry a mobile phone in the booth. The Voter information slip is meant just to provide the details of the booth. It is not valid as identity proof. She said the identity documents in a mobile phone are not considered valid as there’s a ban to carry mobile phones inside the booth. She said some voters had arrived for voting with information slips as identity proof but it is not an identity document. She said the voters need to bring any of these – Voter’s ID card, Aadhar card, driving license, PAN card, Indian passport or 12 types of valid documents. DeshGujarat
