Gandhinagar: Raghu Sharma, the state in charge of the Congress party, has resigned after accepting responsibility for the party’s huge defeat in Gujarat Polls 2022.
As the counting of votes is going on the congress party that had won 77 seats in the last assembly election of 2017 seems to lead/winning only 17 seats as of 4:30 PM
In a letter to the congress president Kharge, Sharma wrote,” I take full responsibility if the unprecedented loss of the congress party in Gujarat assembly elections and tender my resignation.”
Prominent leaders, including Alpesh Thakor, Hardik Patel, a senior Congress leader in the state, and the former Leader of the Opposition Mohan Singh Rathwa, left the Congress and joined the BJP just before the Gujarat Assembly Elections. Aam Aadmi Party’s participation in the elections has also resulted in a crushing defeat for Congress.
