Gandhinagar: Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has picked up Tharad legislator Shankarbhai Chaudhary for the post of the Speaker of the Gujarat Assembly. Shankarbhai had been minister of State in the past. The BJP has also declared the name of Shahera legislator Jethabhai Bharwad for the post of Deputy Speaker. Jethabhai had been the Deputy Speaker in the previous government as well. The election of Speaker and Deputy Speaker will take place on December 20 in a one-day session of the State Assembly, a post-recently concluded State assembly polls. The senior legislator from Vadodara, Yogesh Patel has been made pro-tem Speaker. In recently concluded assembly polls, the ruling BJP got historic high of 156 seats. 16 ministers took oath along with Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in Gandhinagar on December 12. DeshGujarat
