Surat: Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has attached RFID tags to a total of 14,503 cattle so far in the city, as informed by the sources from the related department of SMC.

SMC has made a resolution that no charge will be taken for attaching RFID tags to the cattle till 31st March 2023. However, SMC will take charge from the cattle owners for attaching RFID chips after this date. There are 54,557 cattle to which the RFID tags are yet to be attached, which includes 23,052 cows and 31,505 buffaloes.

The unique identification number of RFID tags helps to identify the cattle and its owner. It can also be identified whether the cattle are from the city area or came from outside. It helps in checking the accurate population counting of cattle. DeshGujarat
