Surat Police declares AAP leader Gautam Patel wanted; nabs 12 for Usury

Surat: Surat police nabbed 12 out of 14 alleged usurers and declared Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Gautam Patel as wanted.

The police informed in a press conference that AAP leader Gautam Patel allegedly took Rs 4.50 lakh against the amount of Rs 2 lakh lent by him. The police seized a file of a plot of the cost of Rs 12 lakh.

The usurers had allegedly lent Rs 19,51,000 to needy people. They allegedly took an amount of Rs 37,10,100 so far by charging an interest ranging from 5 per cent to 100 per cent. They allegedly tortured the victims to take the lender amount along with the interest. Cases of suicide by the victims are also reported. Total 11 crimes were filed at Pandesara police station and 3 at Khatodra police station against usurers.

Ashishsinh Raghavsinh Rajput (lives in Dindoli, Surat), 7. Nikunj Mahendra Patel (lives in Pandesara- Surat), 8. Rakesh Sanjay Nikumbe (lives in Pandesara, Surat) 9. Rajesh alias Raju Amrut Rabari (lives in Udhna) 10. Janardan Avadhnarayan Singh (lives in Pandesara, Surat) 11. Vishan Manek Patil (lives in Pandesara, Surat) 12.
