Gandhinagar: Dholera Industrial City Development Limited (DICDL) hosted International Kite Festival for the 1st time, in association with Gujarat Tourism. The special occasion was graced by Chief Guest Dr. Mahendra bhai Munjpara, Minister of State – Women & Child Development and Ayush, Government of India, in the august presence of Shri Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, Former Cabinet Minister, Govt. of Gujarat and with the Guest of Honor Shri kalubhai Dabhi, Hon’ble MLA, Dhandhuka & Shri Bharatbhai Pandya, Hon’ble, Ex MLA, Dhandhuka.

The special event which started at 11 am witnessed International Kite fliers from across the World. The Kite fliers were from Canada, US, Russian Federation, New Zealand, Srilanka, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and many more countries. The International Kite festival had 42 kite fliers from 18 countries and 26 kite fliers from 4 Indian states with 25 kite fliers from Gujarat totalling to 98 kite fliers in all. They showcased their unique kites and made the whole look and feel of the event vibrant and colourful.

Speaking on this occasion, Dr. Mahendra bhai Munjpara, Minister of State – Women & Child Development and Ayush, Government of India, said “It’s is an occasion of pride and joy for Dholera Smart City that vision of our Hon’able Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji, is coming true of developing a World class Industrial Smart city. This will be a city with World class infrastructure and will showcase India’s potential to the World. I am confident that organizing the Kite Festival here will give Dholera Smart City new wings of development of industries and give a push to tourism.

Bhupendrasinh Chudasma, Senior BJP leader and former minister of Gujarat Government said, “Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji, the international kite festival has created a new platform to showcase the capabilities of Gujarat to the world. This effort to promote a special region like Dholera through tourism and festivals will be a great success”.

In his welcome speech, Shri Hareet Shukla, IAS, Managing Director, Dholera Industrial City Development Ltd and CEO – Dholera Special Investment Region Development Authority, said “Today is a special occasion of birth anniversary of Swami Vivekanandji which falls during the Kite flying festival. This year’s kite fest is on G20 theme with India leading the presidency of G20 countries in coming years Dholera will be a World class industrial city with World Class infrastructure.
