Surat Police nabs accused who attempted train derailment in 2017

Surat: The crime branch of Surat Police has apprehended one Dilip Pandi from Odisha, accused of trying to derail a train near Katargam of Surat in 2017.
The Police had already nabbed four other accused who attempt to derail a train on December 28, 2017 morning by placing benches on the railway track, while Pandi who is the main accused was at large. Pandi is also accused in several drug-related cases.
In his statement, Surat Police Commissioner, Ajay Tomar said, “After a long period of time, the police team succeeded in capturing the wanted suspect. Prize money of ₹20,000 was also announced for this wanted man.” The prize money will be awarded to three members of the Crime branch who apprehend him, he added.
The accused arrested in the derailment case were involved in the illegal business of ganja. They used to bring ganja from Odisha in trains which got harder after strict action by GRP and the city police. Hence, they did this to put pressure on the police. DeshGujarat
