Vadodara gets second Human Milk Bank

Vadodara: Parul Sevasham Hospital (PSH) of Vadodara became the second hospital in the city to upgrade its Neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) with a human milk bank. A 25-bed NICU-PICU complex of the 750-bed hospital was upgraded to add the human milk bank. The hospital authorities claimed that this will help in curbing infant malnutrition.
Medical director, Dr Geetika Patel told the media, “We are the first self-finance medical college and eighth in Gujarat to have this facility. The addition of a milk bank facility will serve as a boon to the newborns thereby achieving our goal of ‘health for all’.”
Minaxi Chauhan, chief district health officer of Vadodara along with Dr Narayan Gaonkar, maternal health specialist of UNICEF, Gandhinagar inaugurated the milk bank. DeshGujarat
