In Gujarat total 58,430 people placed under PMKVY in four years: Govt to RS MP Parimal Nathwani

New Delhi: Under the Union Government’s Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Ministry scheme Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) a total of 58,430 persons have been placed in Gujarat from 2018-19 till December 2022. Apparel, Logistics, Electronics and Hardware, IT-ITeS and Retail have been the top five sectors in terms of the highest employment to person trained under PMKVY in state of Gujarat. This information was provided by Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Shri Rajeev Chandrashekhar in Rajya Sabha on February 8, 2023 while replying to a question raised by member of parliament Shri Parimal Nathwani.

According to the statement of the minister, a total of 17,29,389 persons have been placed since 2018-19 till December 2022 under the PMKVY in different states and union territories of the country. In Gujarat, the Apparel sector has been the top industry to employ 16,348 people trained under PMKVY, followed by Logistics (7,214), Electronics and Hardware (6,814), IT-ITeS (5,785) and Retail (4,222).

Shri Nathwani wanted to know about various skill development related initiatives and number of employments generated by these initiatives along with the top five segments generating employment for the trainees of skill development initiatives and schemes of the central government.

Under Skill India Mission, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) delivers skill training through a comprehensive network of skill development centres/institutes across the country under various schemes viz. Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS), National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) and Craftsman Training Scheme (CTS), through Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), according to the statement of the minister.
