Maulana Sajid Rashidi apologises after FIR over Somnath Remarks

Somnath: Maulana Sajid Rashidi, chief of All India Imam Organization today apologised over his remark regarding the attack on Somnath mandir by Mahmud Ghaznavi after the general manager of  Shri Somnath Trust filed a complaint against him on Thursday.

“It was not my intention to hurt anyone. I read historian Romila Thapar & accordingly made remarks. I apologize to the Somnath Trustees as my intention was not to hurt anyone. Muslims ruled for 800 years and they donated land for temples and beautified them,” said Maulana.

Gujarat Police on Thursday booked Mohammad Sajid Rashidi under sections 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, language, etc.) and 295A (malicious act intended to hurt religious feelings) of the Indian Penal Code, over his remarks regarding the attack on Somnath mandir by Mahmud Ghaznavi.

In his remark, Sajid Rashidi justified the attack on the Somnath temple and said a fictitious story that women were being made to disappear in the Somnath temple.  Maulana Sajid Rashidi had said during an interview that women were being made to disappear in the Somnath temple and by attacking the wrongdoing taking place in the temple was stopped.
