In-charge DGP Vikas Sahay becomes regular DGP of Gujarat

Gandhinagar: Vikas Sahay, an IPS (Indian Police Service) officer of the 1989 batch, is appointed as the DGP (Director General of Police) of Gujarat following the retirement of former DGP Ashish Bhatia. Sahay was in-charge DGP. He has been now made regular DGP.

DGP Vikas Sahay completed his training at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy, Hyderabad. He served for the United Nations (UN) peacekeeping mission and he was posted in Bosnia- Herzegovina in 1998-99 for the same. He served as SP (Superintendent of Police) of Anand district in 1999. He then served in various positions namely SP of Ahmedabad rural in 2001, DCP (Deputy Commissioner of Police) of Ahmedabad city zone 2,3 in 2002, traffic DCP of Ahmedabad city in 2004, and additional traffic CP of Ahmedabad city in 2005.

He served as additional CP (Commissioner of Police) of Surat in 2007 and joint CP of Surat range 1 in 2008. He served as IG (Inspector General) security of Surat in 2009 and IG of CID in Surat in 2010. He also served in Intelligence Beauro (IB) as IG in Surat in 2010. He served as director general of Raksha Shakti University from 2010 to 2016. He also served as DGP (training) of Rakshashakti University.
