Implanted tooth gets uprooted on its own and stuck in lung of a patient in Surat

Surat: An implanted tooth got stuck in the lung of a person after it uprooted by itself from the mouth of a 52-year-old man in Surat.

Dr. Samir Gami, a chest physician, removed the tooth from the patient’s lung after a 2-hour-long bronchoscopy. The 52-year-old man had got a tooth implant. The implanted tooth got uprooted by itself and went inside his body on 21st February. However, he didn’t notice any symptoms. He had symptoms like chest pain and difficulty breathing for two days. So, he got an x-ray which revealed that the tooth had stuck in his lung. Dr. Samir Gami performed a bronchoscopy for 2 hours and removed the tooth from his lung. He got help from Dr. Pintu Bhakhar during the bronchoscopy.

Dr. Samir Gami said that normally the implanted tooth enters the esophagus after being removed and gets discharged through feces. However, in this case, it got stuck in the lung, which is uncommon, he added. DeshGujarat
