Government working in holistic manner for more employment opportunities: PM Modi in video address to Gujarat youths

Gandhinagar: Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi today in a video message hailed the Gujarat government for holding the second Rojgar mela (employment fair) in a short span.

The PM in his video address to new recruitees in the Gujarat government today said he is happy that all departments of the Central government and all NDA-governed state governments across 14 states and union territories hold Raojgar melas regularly.

The PM said that in the last five years, over 1.50 lakh youths have got government jobs in Gujarat. He added that the employment exchanges in Gujarat have ensured jobs for 18 lakh youths in various sectors. He further admired the Gujarat government’s recruitment calendar and timely completion of the recruitment process. He noted that the Gujarat government has made preparations for the recruitment of 25,000 employees this year. He admired Gujarat government initiatives like starting a mobile app and web portal for employment seekers.

PM in his address spoke about the efforts of the BJP government for creating new opportunities for youths. He said the Centre has worked on a solid strategy for this, such as focusing on manufacturing to increase employment opportunities, assistance for Swarojgar (self-employment) without the need for a guarantee, and skill development for youths.

The PM noted that Rs. 1.25 lakh crore projects in the infrastructure sector are underway only in Gujarat. He said the Centre has provisioned Rs. 10 lakh crore amount for infrastructure in this year’s budget which shall create employment opportunities for lakhs of people.

The PM said the global experts have said that India will become the largest manufacturing country, and Gujarat will of course play a major role in it. PM gave examples of some proposed projects in Gujarat, such as a Rs. 20,000 crore railway factory and Gujarat as a semiconductor hub.

The PM said that the government is working for employment generation in a holistic manner including at the policy level. He pointed out that there are more than 90,000 startups in the country now including in tear two and tear three cities.

The PM stressed on the need of skilled manpower and added that every section of society must be benefitted from it. He mentioned PM Kaushal Vikas Yojana, under which 30 centres are coming up in various cities for skill training. The PM in reference to Gujarat said that there are 600 ITIs in the State with 2 lakh students and he is happy that good placements take place in these ITI colleges. PM said the recent budget has provision to develop 50 tourist places. The PM also spoke about the appointments of 40,000 teachers in Eklavya school.
