Lakadia-Vadodara green energy transmission project commissioned

Vadodara: Sterlite Power, a power transmission firm operating in India and Brazil, has launched its Lakadia-Vadodara Transmission Project (LVTPL) as part of its green energy corridor initiative. This project seeks to provide more than 5000 MW of power from renewable energy-rich regions of Bhuj and Kutch to the national grid, helping to expedite India’s transition to a greener economy.

The inter-state transmission required a Rs 2,024 crore investment to link the 765/400 kV substation at Lakadia to Vadodara via a 335 km long 765 kV double-circuit transmission line. The transmission corridor, which spans seven districts in Gujarat and consists of 812 towers, is also one of the largest ever built in India and is critical to the world’s largest 30,000 MW hybrid renewable energy park in Kutch.

Sterlite Power’s Managing Director, Pratik Agarwal, said, “It has been a challenging journey, but we have been successful in unlocking 5000 MW of green power for the nation that will accelerate India’s RE vision of 500GW by 2030.” DeshGujarat
