ACB nabs son of sarpanch of Sanosra village in bribe case in Rajkot

Rajkot: The Anti-corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat has apprehended the son of the sarpanch of Sanosra village in Rajkot for accepting a bribe of Rs 1,50,000.

The complainant had secured a labor contract for shed work at Shrinathji Polytech. It was his responsibility to obtain construction permission from the Sanosra gram panchayat. He approached the female sarpanch of Sanosra village, Jubeda, to submit an application for the same. She directed him to her son, Rahid, who managed the sarpanch’s affairs.

The accused, Rahid, demanded a bribe of Rs 2,50,000 from the complainant to grant the construction permission. After an argument, the amount was negotiated down to Rs 1,50,000.

Since the complainant was unwilling to pay the bribe, he contacted the ACB. The accused was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 1,50,000 during a trap laid by the ACB and has been detained. DeshGujarat
