Gandhinagar: During the ongoing budget session of the state assembly today, the Gujarat government gave replies to the questions asked by the MLAs.

In response to Congress MLA Arjun Modhwadia, the government stated that there are 3,960 open wells near Gir sanctuary and national park. In a reply to Botad MLA Umesh Bhai Makwana, the health minister informed that the construction of the new medical college in Botad is in the stage of land allocation and a sum of Rs. 1 crore has been allocated for its construction.

The state health minister also stated that the Gujarat government has allocated over Rs. 500 crore in grants to UN Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research in the last two years. The government also informed the assembly that 34 persons were killed by leopards and lions while 229 were injured in Gujarat in the last two years.

Furthermore, the state government informed the assembly that over 1,000 animals and birds were brought to the Statue of Unity’s famous Jungle Safari at Ektanagar in the last two years.
