Ahmedabad man Kiran Patel held in J&K for faking as PMO official

New Delhi: Ahmedabad-based Kiran Patel who was visiting Jammu & Kashmir and taking meetings with officers as “Additional Director in the Prime Minister’s Office” has been arrested by Srinagar Police and booked under sections 419, 420, 468, and 471.

Patel was provided PSOs and escort along with room number 1107 in the five-star hotel Lalit. Patel had visited the Clock tower in Lal Chowk of Srinagar under tight security. He had visited Srinagar and Gulmarg, claiming he was Additional Director (Strategy and Campaign) in Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

Patel who has been involved in cheating cases in Ahmedabad also in the past was picked up from a room in Hotel Lalit.

It is learnt that J&K CID had given input to Srinagar Police following which SP East Srinagar had raided Lalit Hotel to arrest Kiran. Kiran Patel was given security cover on the request of a Deputy Commissioner of a district in Kashmir. Kiran had visited Pulwama as well as Baramulla among other places. A high-level order inquiry has been ordered in the unprecedented lapse.

Kiran Patel was arrested on 03-03-2023 and is remanded to police custody till 17-03-2023. An FIR was registered in this regard and a team of SP East Srinagar and SDPO Nehru Park are leading the probe.

In 2019, Kiran was held in a cheating case involving alleged cheating of Rs. 78 lakh in Ahmedabad. Kiran along with his brother Manish both were held by the Police in this case.
