First phase of outer ring road of Surat to complete in January 2024

Surat: The first phase of the outer ring road of Surat will be opened in January 2024, said Surat Municipal Commissioner Shalini Agrawal.

The first phase covers a route of 17.31 kms and its total cost is Rs 486 crore. The project deadline was June 2024 but it will be completed 6 months in advance. Surat Municipal Commissioner Shalini Agrawal stated that the first phase of the outer ring road has 5 packages. The roadwork of all the packages except the 1-E package will be completed by June 2023. The work of 1-E package will be completed by December 2023. The first phase of the outer ring road covers a railway overbridge, a flyover bridge, a vehicle underpass, a river bridge, 3 mega creek structures, and remaining road works.

The work of 1-A and 1-B packages will be completed within 15 days and the work of 1-C and 1-D will be completed within 30 days. A Total Rs 350.05 crore has been spent so far on the outer ring road. Total Rs 100 crore were spent within the last 4 months and Rs 10 crore will be spent till 31st March. The soil testing for the second phase is ongoing. Its total route is 10.45 kms and cost is Rs 275 crore. The soil testing will end within the upcoming one month.

The project will provide new connectivity to Gadhpur road, Surat Kamrej Road, Mota Varachha, Bharthana, and Kosad. The road will also decrease the distance by 10 kms. DeshGujarat
